Endotoxin (Bacterial Endotoxin) Test

Endotoxins are structural components found in the cell walls of gram-negative bacteria. This structure is considered the bacterium’s final line of defense before death. Gram-negative bacteria contain an outer membrane beyond their cell wall, and this outer membrane includes endotoxins. Endotoxins are released either when the bacterium dies or when this outer structure is disrupted for any reason.

The presence of endotoxins can pose serious health risks in products that come into contact with the human body, such as medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and especially dialysis water. Therefore, endotoxin analyses must be conducted to ensure the safety of these products.

Bacterial Endotoxin (LAL) Test is designed to detect the toxic structures in the cell walls of gram-negative bacteria. These tests are performed according to the following standards:

  • European Pharmacopeia (E.P.) 2.6.14 – Bacterial Endotoxins
  • United States Pharmacopeia (USP) – 85 – Bacterial Endotoxins Test

At Oxigen Analytical Laboratory, we carry out endotoxin analyses with high precision in accordance with international standards, ensuring the safety of your products.
